Calhoun Intermediate School District Announces Board of Education Openings

MARSHALL, MI – The Calhoun Intermediate School District will hold its biennial board member election on Monday, June 2, 2025. Two (2) six-year term seats on the Calhoun Intermediate School District (ISD) Board of Education are up for election this year.

The term begins July 1, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2031. 

People interested in running for an Calhoun ISD board seat must be at least 18 years of age, a registered voter and a resident within one of the 12 local constituent districts. Interested candidates have a choice of either:

  • Filing nomination petitions with a minimum of 40 (maximum 100) valid voter signatures of residents within the Calhoun ISD service area or

  • Paying a non-refundable $100 filing fee.

A completed Affidavit of Identity is due at the time of filing. The deadline to submit petitions or to pay the filing fee and submit the required affidavit is May 5, 2025.

The nomination petitions or the filing fee must be submitted directly to the Calhoun County Clerk’s Office, located at 315 W Green Street in Marshall. Nomination petitions and affidavits of identity may be obtained from the County Clerk’s Office.

Calhoun ISD’s board members are elected by the local district boards of education which include the following districts: Athens, Battle Creek, Bellevue, Harper Creek, Homer, Lakeview, Mar Lee, Marshall, Olivet, Pennfield, Tekonsha, and Union City. Representatives from these local districts will convene at the June 2 election to cast votes which reflect resolutions passed by their boards of education for candidates running for the Calhoun ISD board.
