Secondary-Disciplinary Literacy

The Disciplinary Literacy division of Regional Instructional Services offers support and services around best practices in Disciplinary Literacy instruction for teaching staff and administrators.  The Literacy Essentials documents provide the foundation for all learning and support to districts.  These documents provide research-proven, effective approaches to markedly improve literacy skills among Michigan’s students.  Professional learning opportunities centered around classroom practices are offered periodically throughout the school year. Disciplinary Literacy coaching provides job-embedded professional learning for teachers and leaders and is available to districts by request.
